Internet providers in Watamu (2026): plans and prices compared

The three options that actually work in Watamu
Kenya has many internet brands, but most don't reach Watamu. Zuku's network covers Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu and Nakuru — not Watamu. Faiba's home fiber is concentrated in Nairobi. Mawingu's published service areas are Kilifi, Mtwapa, Ukunda and Malindi — Watamu is not on the list (checked 31 July 2026). That leaves three realistic choices for a Watamu home or business:

The bottom line
Choose Starlink if you are outside everyone's coverage — a farm, a boat, deep off-grid. It works anywhere with open sky. The hardware kit starts at KES 6,750 in selected areas under their current Kenya promotion (more elsewhere), and there is no technician to call when something breaks.
Choose Safaricom if their fibre is already on your street and you want the country's biggest brand — or if a budget tier like the KES 800 Wi-Fi Bamba plan (10 Mbps, select estates) matters more than anything else. Be aware of the published 1:4 shared-capacity ratio and the fair-usage caps: evening speeds can be a quarter of what the plan says.

Which internet provider is cheapest in Watamu?
For a full home connection, iNet's Basic Browse at KES 2,500 a month (20 Mbps, unlimited) is the lowest-priced unlimited plan available across Watamu. Safaricom's budget tiers start lower where they exist — KES 800 buys the 10 Mbps Wi-Fi Bamba plan in select estates, and Fibre Lite offers 15 Mbps at KES 1,500 — but they run on shared capacity with fair-usage caps. Starlink starts at KES 4,000 a month plus the hardware kit, priced from KES 6,750 in selected areas under Starlink's current Kenya promotion. Prices effective 31 July 2026.
Does Mawingu work in Watamu?
Watamu is not on Mawingu's published list of service areas — they list Kilifi, Mtwapa, Ukunda and Malindi (checked 31 July 2026). If you are on the edge of town it is worth asking them directly, but for most Watamu homes the realistic choices are iNet, Safaricom where their fibre reaches, or Starlink.
Is there fiber internet in Watamu?

Does Zuku or Faiba work in Watamu?
Zuku's network covers Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu and Nakuru — it does not serve Watamu today. Faiba's home fiber is concentrated in Nairobi and a few other cities; their 4G router service works only where JTL's mobile network reaches, so check locally before buying equipment.
